THE CHALLENGE

Berlin Dungeon needed a pre-Christmas social media campaign that would cut through the festive noise. The solution? Take a traditional Christmas carol and give it the Dungeon treatment: Dark, theatrical, and impossible to ignore. The project needed to work across multiple touchpoints: social media video for viral potential, and in-venue audio to create atmosphere in the entrance area during the holiday season.

OUR APPROACH

We reimagined "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" with a modern, edgier arrangement that maintained the carol's recognizability while adding the theatrical darkness that defines Berlin Dungeon's brand. Working directly with the Dungeon cast, we recorded a performance that brought authenticity and character to the piece. These weren't studio singers – they were the actors visitors would encounter in the attraction itself, making the campaign feel genuinely connected to the Dungeon experience. Following the recording, we produced the complete track, created audio for a social media video, and developed complementary POS soundscapes for the venue's entrance area. This ensured a cohesive audio experience from online discovery to in-person visit.

THE IMPACT

The campaign launched in 2015 and performed so well it was reused for multiple holiday seasons. The modern take on the traditional carol created the perfect balance: Festive enough for Christmas, dark enough for the Dungeon brand. The multi-touchpoint approach (social media + in-venue audio) created a consistent brand experience that supported both awareness and on-site atmosphere.
